Guy Smiley and Stuntman Stu: Separated at Birth?

One of our listeners pointed out the physical similarities between Guy Smiley and Stuntman Stu. Hmmm. Come to think of it, they have never been in the same room at the same time, nor have they been photographed together.....

Dog Wash!

Well, I guess it was bound to happen! Someone has invented a dog washing machine. Your dog sits stationary in this big machine, while jets of water move all around him, its safe and easy and he comes out clean! 'Spa Animal Dog Grooming' is where you'll find it, in Dollard des Ormeau in the Montreal area. Only problem is, its a bit of a long drive back to Ottawa with a wet dog in the front seat.

Rescued Huskys Need Your Help

Help!! If you can provide a home for a beautiful husky - please contact the SPCA Laurentides-Labelle, which is just north of Montreal. They have recently rescued 97 sled dogs who were living in the woods, chained to stakes with inadequate food and water. 30 of the dogs are already pregnant. The good news is that none of the sled dogs have to be euthanized, and their health issues are all treatable. And they are extremely friendly! Why not take a drive to the SPCA Laurentide-Labelle and choose your new friend.. details at www.spcall.ca. Donations to off-set costs would also be greatly appreciated.
(p.s. note: PLEASE do your research into the husky breed before considering adoption. They are active, and not for every lifestyle)

Bruce in New York

thanks to Kelly Doyle who sent this photo (one of many) from Bruce Springsteen's recent concerts in New York City. Kelly's boyfriend went to the show, and took these shots to make us jealous! How the heck did he get so close? Wow, thats within 'getting Bruce's sweat on you' distance!

Zhu Zhu Pets, Get 'Em While They're Hot!

They couldn't keep Cabbage Patch Kids on the shelves, Tickle Me Elmo had parents scrambling to get their hands on one, the Sony Playstation was remarkably short of supply just before the holidays and this season the 'must have' toy is....the ZHU ZHU PET!! Robotic hamsters complete with a 'bevy of accessories' have tickled the fancy of kids world-wide...and reports are that U.S retailers such as Walmart and Target can't keep them in stock. The makers of Zhu Zhu pets call them the 'best alternative' to real hamsters, but they don't 'poop, 'die', or 'stink'. Hmmmm. I did have real hamsters when I was a kid, and I found them to be fun pets, quite affectionate and sweet. I'll never forget the scream that came from my sister one night when my new hamster used her leg as his own personal springboard. And for any kid who has shared a bedroom with a hamster, how about being woken up in the middle of the night by Hammy running a hundred miles an hour in his squeaky wheel. I don't think Zhu Zhu pets come even close!

Hey boys and girls! Get 'em while they're hot! McDonalds has released its new line of NHL trading cards, and look who's back! Rather ironic. But, if you look closely, Dany Heatley does have his BACK to Ottawa...

Gotta love this email sent by Russell Pike this morning:

Here's a thought about all the Danny Heatley cards, collect as many as we can and mail them to

Blue Rodeo Sneak Peak!

An incredible evening last night at the Black Sheep in Wakefield! Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy performed an intimate 'sneak peak' of tunes from the band's latest album 'The Things We Left Behind' (release date, next Tuesday) The show was acoustically beautiful, with Greg and Jim's signature harmonies sounding better than ever. The audience enjoyed a special bonus: Ottawa's own Kathleen Edwards opened the show and joined Greg and Jim for several songs, adding her own smoky brand of back-up vocals. The boys were relaxed, playful, there were lots of laughs and it was a rare opportunity to see them in such an intimate setting (big contrast to their show before 30,000 people in July at Bluesfest!) I have been wearing out my 'preview' copy of Blue Rodeo's new CD 'The Things We Left Behind'. A double CD, all new material, classic Blue Rodeo. five stars out of five for this one. For any Blue Rodeo fan, getting this album is a must. Get to know the songs, then get set to see Blue Rodeo at Scotiabank Place on February 14th.
(p.s. congratulations to Paul Symes and the Black Sheep Inn, voted Canada's NUMBER ONE live music venue!! For this honour, Martha Wainright will be writing and recording a song about the Black Sheep. Well deserved!! )
